About Us
Located in Knox County Board of Education District 2 and KCS Region 5, Whittle Springs Middle School was established first as a Junior High School and opened in 1959 as a part of the Knoxville City Schools with students in 7th-9th Grades. In 1980, Whittle Springs opened with its first class of 6th graders and officially became a middle school. There was a significant addition to the school in 1998 that added 12 additional classrooms which allowed the school to serve the growing community.
Whittle Springs is home to approximately 460 students representing five different continents. This rich blend of cultures and backgrounds creates a vibrant and diverse community where every student’s story adds to our shared learning experience. With 75 dedicated staff, we pride ourselves on being a close-knit community of learners. Our team works together to provide a personalized approach to each child’s education and development, ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
